Pros & Cons

  • My co-workers have been great. Senior staff are willing to teach and help upskill me. The culture is great as I personally find a nice balance of personal/ professional.
  • The best thing about working at Protiviti is the tremendous support and camaraderie that is present among the team. Protiviti is an enabler for innovation, excellence, and most importantly, curiosity. There is no such thing as a bad question, and my team has helped me achieve my goals in an extraordinary manner. Moreover, this inclusivity is shown in the genuine connections that I have formed already, and the compassion that each one of my co-workers shows one another. I truly believe that working for Protiviti is like working in a tight-knit and close team, with this being not only a national office but an international office too - which opens the door for many more opportunities and connections.
  • The exposure to both private and government clients and being in a smaller team allows you to have more responsibility/be more involved at a junior level. I also think our workplace is unique in that we have the ability as junior staff to develop a strong rapport with and work closely or directly with Directors etc. This has been a great learning experience.
  • Protiviti's culture is what sets it apart from other workplaces. As a grad, you get opportunities to take on challenges and responsibilities that you wouldn't get elsewhere due to the firm's size. The management really cares about employees' well-being, career growth, and goals. This is seen in the work-life balance, career advisor program, and active role that even Managing Directors take in supporting grads to pursue areas of interest and passion.
  • The best thing about Protiviti is the people and the culture! I joined Protiviti as a graduate and the company really stood out to me throughout the recruitment process as all the staff involved were so friendly and helpful. I felt very welcomed once I started with Protiviti and felt comfortable approaching colleagues for help and for a chat - even the most senior staff members.
  • The global nature of the company makes it difficult to participate in events and projects run in other countries. Eg. Sustainability Club events run in an American timezone - this is not the companies fault but rather the price of living in Australia
  • The worst thing is the size of the branch. I would love to see the size of the office continue to grow and see more people enjoy working at this company.
  • Sometimes you are given projects that may not align with your solution or interests. Although it is good to develop skills in multiple areas, and with multiple different stakeholders it can limit some progression if you are booked for projects that aren't within your solution or may not align with your interests/passions
  • This is not Protiviti specific, it is great to work at a global company, however, one disadvantage to this is that global calls and groups often have meetings and workshops at odd times for the AEDT/AEST timezone eg. 3.00 am
  • If I really had to choose, I would say the pay but I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else as the work culture and the work-life balance that I get at Protiviti is not offered by any other company.

Culture
8.7
Culture
This is what sets Protiviti apart. Protiviti has a strong culture of being supportive, flexible, and a fun place to work. This tone is set from the top. The management structure is relatively flat and non-hierarchical. Work is done in a collaborative and team-focused way. There are plenty of social events through the social club and also informal events such as after-work drinks etc.

Diversity

Diversity
The firm is very diverse as they aim for at least 40% women in director roles. They have a DEI community and RAP which shows Protiviti supports members of ethnic minorities and LGBTIQA+ communities.

Satisfaction
As a consultant, my main roles and responsibilities involve supporting the managers and MDs with the project. This involves things such as note-taking during meetings, providing input in internal meetings, engaging in fieldwork and document reviews, and overall learning the processes and methodologies of the project/stakeholder. Other day-to-day responsibilities also include admin work for the project, such as scheduling meetings or requesting information from the client.

Managers are really supportive and approachable. Feedback is structured through an online system that allows you to request formal feedback on projects. Good work is recognized in internal meetings regularly.

Great location, nice space and good views. Not super fancy but it meets all our needs. Dress code is business casual for the office and changes according to client requirements if you are meeting with clients.

Recruitment
As a grad, the hiring process was really quick and supportive. There was a lot of communication from the recruitment team and expectations were set early. After receiving the offer, HR was very easy to communicate with and very responsive too

Salary
As a graduate consultant, the pay is about the middle of the road for consulting salaries. but work-life balance is much better than other firms.

Training

Training
Formal training is great! There are many opportunities provided to us. However, not having a consistent manager slows down the process for improvement. I highly recommend having allocated managers for perhaps a 6-month period rotation, where you are only on their engagements where possible. Advisors can only help so far. Boots on the ground to support the learning and development is much better. If a manager knows they will have this person for an extended period, then they will be more inclined to invest in the employee's development as opposed to palm them off to the next manager and hope someone else puts in the time to train them

Work Hours

Work Hours
Protiviti is completely flexible in terms of where you work. Teams have "anchor days" where the team or solution's managing directors are generally in the office which are encouraged in-office days. But you have near complete flexibility unless a client project requires you to be on-site.
